You may have seen ilovelawyer mentioned alongside AI and law. Here is what it is, who makes it and what it does, in seven short points.
1. It is an AI workspace for lawyers
ilovelawyer is a case workspace. Lawyers create a case, add the parties and upload documents as PDF or Word files. The AI then works from that case instead of from a blank page.
2. FORHU makes it
FORHU's name is short for "for human." The company says technology must serve people, not the reverse, and it publishes research papers on its own research page.
3. It is not a chatbot
Many AI tools are a single chat window. ilovelawyer gives each case three areas: Sources for documents, Chat for asking the assistant, and Studio for working views like a mind map, a timeline of key dates and a data table. You can have several conversations inside one case.
4. Answers show their sources
Each answer comes with related case law. You see the title, case number, a source link, a snippet and a note on why it is relevant. That makes it quick to check where a statement came from.
5. It checks citations
The research library includes citation checking. The goal is for every quoted authority to be verified against a real source document. It is built to help lawyers catch unsupported citations, and the lawyer still reads and verifies the source.
6. You arrange your own screen
The main interface, the Legal Terminal, is made of panes you can drag, resize and arrange. Start from a layout of one, two, four or six panes. Save a named layout for each case and reload it from any machine.
7. Law firms can use it together
Firm accounts have Owner, Admin and Member roles. Deadlines and files sit with each case, so everyone works from one picture of the matter.
One quote
"Trust is an inevitable product of architecture rather than chance," said FORHU CEO, JUN SHIN(JUNGKWAN SHIN), in a company announcement.
What it is not
ilovelawyer is not a law firm and does not replace a lawyer's judgment. It is software. FORHU says a version for non-lawyers is coming soon.
Nothing here is legal advice.
